Lace in a Case Challenge

Migration is the theme of the Lace West week. With this theme in mind, we are offering a challenge: ‘Lace in a Case’. We would like you to bring an item of lace which you would pack in your case if you were migrating. Tell us why you chose this item. If you have a tiny case, it would be welcome too, for the display!

The weather
In September, Midland/Perth is mildly cool for locals and warm for those from the eastern states, with average highs of 21°C and lows of 11°C and very little rain.
What to see in Perth and Western Australia

Midland is very close to the Swan Valley, a major Western Australian wine-growing area. The valley has numerous cafés, restaurants, and craft temptations. We will include a taste of the Swan Valley in our midweek tour.

Wildflowers will be on show at Kings Park. The best time to see wildflowers around Perth is between August and October. Our conference is well timed! We will include a visit to Kings Park in our midweek tour. You could also join a dedicated wildflower tour before or after the conference.

The Lace Place, Hyden is 340 km from Perth but worth a detour, especially if you are driving from the eastern states. The Lace Place offers an extensive lace collection dating back to the 1600s, including many handmade antique gowns and wedding dresses. It is open daily and located in Hyden at Wave Rock, a striking formation created by weathering and water erosion.
